Adaptation Process

After a stroke, patients adapt by accepting their disabilities step by step. First they acknowledge and accept their physical disabilities, and then they come to acknowledge and accept their cognitive impairments.

1. 01Acknowledgement of physical disabilities

   They acknowledge their physical disabilities but deny other disabilities.

2. 02Acceptance of physical disabilities

   They accept their physical disabilities and begin to acknowledge their cognitive impairments.

3. 03Acceptance of cognitive impairments

   They accept their cognitive impairments and adjust to them.
